Best Bray Hotels Ireland
The Martello Hotel
The popular seafront Martello Hotel has the best self catering option for families visiting Bray. You get all the facilities of a hotel but a self contained, well equipped private apartment.
Location – The Martello sits on Bray seafront. Sea Life Bray is 200 metres on foot, Bray Park is 400 metres and the Bray to Greystones walk starts nearby. It is a five minute walk to Bray Daly rail station and Bray town centre.
For self caterers, the nearest large supermarket is 2 minutes on foot.
Rooms – Families can rent a ground floor self catering apartment which, considering its facilities and beachfront location, is great value for money.
There is a double bed and two single beds, a comfortable living area with sofa and a tv. The good sized kitchen is equipped with a oven, stove, microwave and washing machine.
Good to know – One of the most popular Bray pubs, The Martello Hotel has a restaurant, a bar and a nightclub and is just across the road from Bray beach. We visit The Martello regularly; they have a great kids menu, good food portions and do a fantastic Full Irish breakfast.
There is a charge for private parking and guests may experience some noise on busy weekends. However, this is still one of the best Bray hotels Ireland for families looking for space, comfort and the chance to self cater.

The Palm
There is one huge drawback with The Palm Bray: it doesn’t allow children. But, just in case you find yourself on a child free break in Bray, I thought it was worth including as it is such a gorgeous property.
Formerly known as 40 Winks Bray, The Palm offers luxurious sea view rooms for couples. It’s on my wish list for a future trip.
Location – The hotel is across the road from Bray beach. Sea Life Bray is 300 metres away and Bray train station is also 300 metres on foot.
Rooms – The luxurious, uniquely designed rooms are the main attraction of The Palm (formerly 40 Winks Hotel Bray).

Best Hotels near Bray Ireland
If you have a car and don’t mind staying a short distance outside Bray town centre, there are some fantastic hotels near Bray for families. Staying outside busy Bray, especially when an event is on, will provide good value for money. Plus, without the confines of a town, you can also find more spacious accommodation with good on site facilities.
Summerhill House Hotel
For something special, book a family room at Summerhill House Hotel in nearby Enniskerry.
We love visiting Enniskerry when we go to Bray; the village is picture perfect and lies at the foot of the Wicklow Mountains yet it is only 3 miles/5 kilometres from Bray Beach. Enniskerry is a popular filming location and recently featured in Disney’s ‘Disenchanted.’
It is a prefect base from which to explore Bray and the surrounding Wicklow Mountains.
Location – Summerhill country house hotel is a 10 minute walk from the centre of Enniskerry. It is just a 5 minute walk from Powerscourt House and Gardens. (You can read about things to do in Powerscourt Estate here).

Fitzpatrick Castle Hotel
The fabulous Fitzpatrick Castle Hotel in neighbouring Dalkey offers families exceptional value for money.
The building has a turret and ramparts so kids will feel as if they are staying in a fairy tale Irish castle. Plus, the hotel has a rare indoor swimming pool which is perfect for the ‘occasional’ rainy day in Ireland.
Location – Fitzpatrick Castle Hotel is in Dalkey (one of my son’s favourite villages in Ireland). Bray Beach is seven kilometres away but Whiterock Beach is just 600 metres on foot. Dalkey Castle, the James Joyce Museum and Dalkey DART station are all a one kilometre walk from the hotel.
There are lots of shops, cafes and restaurants in Dalkey village.
Rooms – The comfortable ensuite rooms have tea and coffee making facilities, a desk, soft chairs and a safe. A family room sleeps 4 in two large double beds. The velvet and richly toned soft furnishings give the rooms a luxurious feel.
