Map Made Memories https://www.mapmadememories.com is governed by the following GDPR compliant Privacy Policy.

Map Made Memories respects your privacy and is committed to protecting it. This policy clarifies what information is collected, how it is used and stored and what you need to do if you wish to opt out.

This privacy policy applies only to Map Made Memories and users of the Map Made Memories website. It does not extend to, or cover, any websites that can be accessed from Map Made Memories. It is recommended that you read the privacy policies of these websites.

Map Made Memories reserves the right to change and update this privacy policy as deemed necessary or as may be required by law.

1. Personal Data

1.1 Personal data is created by a user’s interaction with our website in addition to technical processes such as contact forms, comments, cookies, analytics, and third-party embeds. In other words, Map Made Memories collects data give by the user and data that is collected automatically.

1.2 When visitors leave comments on my site I collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
An anonymised string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/.

1.3 After approval of your comment, if you choose to leave an avatar, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment. Your email address will not be displayed but you may choose to add a link to your website.

1.4 Map Made Memories is committed to data minimalisation. Personal data may include, but is not limited to, email address, first and last name and cookies and usage data. You will never be asked for sensitive data such as ethnic origin, religion or health details or personal contact details.

1.5 Explicit consent will be sought before you are added the email list for Map Made Memories.

2. Use Of Data and how to opt-out

2.1 Collected data is used to provide and maintain service, notify you about changes to the website or to provide you with news, newsletters, special offers and general information including new posts.

2.2 Emails and /or newsletters may contain embedded tracking beacons to monitor subscriber activity arising from receiving such emails. No other data will be collected.

2.3 Data is also used to monitor the usage of Map Made Memories such as pages viewed, time spent on the website etc. I use Google Analytics for this purpose.

2.4 You have the right to opt-out of any, or all, of these communications at any time by contacting me at sinead@mapmadememories.com. You do not have the right to transfer any of your rights under this privacy policy to another person.

3. External access to your data

3.1 At present (April 2020) no one has access to the data stored on Map Made Memories except for myself (passwords used) and, as and when appropriate to the maintenance of the web site, my web host Siteground, Defiant Inc (who provide the security software Wordfence for this site) and WordPress.

3.2 Map Made Memories is secured with an SSL encryption.

4. Children’s Information

4.1 Map Made Memories will not knowingly process the personal details of anyone under the age of 18. If you are a parent and think that I may have access to your child’s personal information, contact me immediately at sinead@mapmadememories.com.

5. Cookies

5.1 Information is tracked using cookies, including session and persistent cookies plus first-party and third-party cookies.

5.2 As required by law, and where applicable, Map Made Memories uses a cookie control system allowing the user to permit or deny the consent for the use of cookies on their device.

6. Embedded Content

6.1 Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

6.2 These other websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

7. Analytics

7.1  Map Made Memories uses the third-party service providers Google Analytics (for tracking usage of our website), Google Search Console, Mail Chimp (for delivering email and newsletters) and Askimet (anti-spam service). Their privacy policies are available online.

7.2  Map Made Memories, via Google Analytics, may log your IP address, operating system and browser type, geographical location, referring website, which pages you viewed, time spent on my website, actions taken (such as internal or external links clicked) and the date/time of day you accessed the Map Made Memories. No personally identifiable information is collected and sent to Google Analytics so you will not be asked for consent.

7.3 We will not sell, distribute or reveal personal information to other third parties.

8. Data Retention

8.1 If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely but only for as long as is necessary for the purposes set out in this privacy policy or to meet any legal obligations.

8.2 In the event of the cessation of Map Made Memories, all data will be deleted.

8.3 For users that submit a contact form, we store the personal information provided in their user profile. All users have the right to see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time.

8.4 Whilst Map Made Memories has taken necessary security procedures to protect data, no site is 100% secure and we do not accept any liability for a breach of data.

9. Data rights

9.1 You have the right to access, rectify and erase your personal data.  All requests will be swiftly adhered to.

9.2 You have the right to restrict and object to the processing of your data as well as the right to complain. You also have the right to request we move, copy or transfer your data (data portability).

9.3 If you have left comments or submitted a contact form, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us.

9.4 You can also request that we restrict, rectify or amend your personal information.

9.5 You have the right to withdraw consent and request we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

9.6 Please note we may ask you to verify your identity before adhering to such requests.

10. Transfer of Data

10.1 Your personal information may be transferred and maintained on computers located outside of your home country.

Please note that currently all data from Map Made Memories is transferred and processed in the United Kingdom. Your voluntary submission of information represents your agreement to this transfer.

10.2 All necessary security procedures are taken to ensure your data is secure but Map Made Memories accepts no liability for breach of data.

11. Advertising and Downloads

11.1 We may use third-party advertising companies for content and adverts which may use cookies.

11.2 Map Made Memories may engage in marketing efforts with third-party companies in order to market the website. These companies use cookies to provide ads based on the users visit history and/or to track the number of referrals sent from Map Made Memories.

11.3 Map Made Memories may engage in affiliate marketing which embeds tracking links into the website. Users click on sponsored and/or external links at their own risk and Map Made Memories will not be held liable for any issues arising from visiting external links.

Users should note they click on sponsored external links at their own risk and Map Made Memories cannot be held liable for any damages or implications caused by visiting any external links mentioned.

11.4 Downloadable documents, files or media contained within Map Made Memories are downloaded at the users own risk. Map Made Memories advises the use of anti-virus software to verify downloads.

11.5 No responsibility is accepted for content or downloads provided by third-party external links or websites.

12. Social Media

12.1 Map Made Memories will never ask for user passwords or personal details on social media platforms.

12.2 There are social sharing buttons on pages within Map Made Memories, which help to share my web content directly from Map Made Memories to social media platforms.

Users use these social media sharing buttons at their own discretion and risk accepting that this may publish content to your own social media profile or page.

12.3 Users should know that social media platforms may collect their own data if you visit Map Made Memories whilst logged into the social media platform.
